MOSCOW (Sputnik) — FIFA has so far rejected calls to postpone the FIFA presidential election scheduled for Friday in the wake of allegations.
"There was a meeting today with the president with the representatives from the confederations to discuss the current situation," Fischer said in a statement.
On Wednesday, seven high-ranking FIFA officials were arrested in Zurich on US federal charges, including fraud, racketeering, money laundering, as well as illegal marketing and broadcasting deals over the last 20 years.
A total of nine FIFA officials and five corporate executives were indicted on racketeering and money laundering conspiracies by the US Justice Department.
According to FIFA spokesman Walter De Gregorio, Blatter is not involved in the scandal.
