MOSCOW (Sputnik), Yulia Shamporova – On Wednesday, Finland's prime minister appointed a known Eurosceptic, Timo Soini, as the new foreign minister, triggering suspicions that the country may change its foreign policy course.
"Of course, Russia always will be an important neighbor of Finland…. If there are common policy within the EU countries we will follow it, but we will have our bilateral relations with Russia as well," Vesa Hakkinen said.
Timo Soini is the leader of the right-wing The Finns Party.
He often criticizes the European Parliament and stands for a more independent policy for Finland. He also finds it important to support relations with Russia.
