WASHINGTON, May 27 (Sputnik) — International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) should turn to high-standard ethical and business guidelines, US Youth Soccer Director of Marketing and Communications Todd Roby told Sputnik on Thursday.
“We are committed to the highest ethical standards and business practices, and we will continue to encourage CONCACAF and FIFA to promote the same values,” Roby said.
The suspects are alleged to have received some $150 million in bribes. They may face extradition to the United States, according to the US Department of Justice.
Roby added that US Youth Soccer supports the US national governing body, the United States Soccer Federation, “in the belief that there is no higher priority, and nothing more important, than protecting the integrity of our game.”
Earlier on Thursday, Transparency International called on FIFA’s President Joseph Blatter to step down.
