Return to Drachma Would Be Catastrophic for Greece - Economists
MOSCOW (Sputnik), Anna Liatsu — The Communist Party of Spain (PCE) head of international relations, Juan de Dios Villanueva, emphasized the importance of political measures and economic policy over "the currency itself" in assessing the economic woes Athens faces over its massive foreign debt.

Greece's national debt, amounting to some $350 billion, has stoked fears of the nation's possible withdrawal from the eurozone.

This year's victory of the country's left-wing anti-austerity Syriza party has fueled speculation of the increased possibility of a so-called Grexit.

"If we return to national currencies, but will still continue the neoliberal course, it would mean we did nothing."
