A natural gas pipeline located outside el-Arish, the provincial capital of North Sinai, has been blown up by unknown gunmen on Sunday morning, security officials said.
According to the Egyptian state news agency MENA, the pipeline delivers gas to a local power station and residential homes.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack; some are pointing the finger at the Sinai Peninsula-based jihadist group Ansar Beit al-Maqdis group, or "Champions of Jerusalem," which has already staged more than a dozen similar attacks.
