Moscow Ready to Expand EU Travel Ban List if West Ups Anti-Russia Sanctions
BERLIN (Sputnik) — Berlin is interested in maintaining communication with Moscow despite the existence of a travel ban barring EU officials from entering Russia, a German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said Monday.

Last week, a Russian Foreign Ministry source confirmed media reports suggesting that the embassies of EU member states in Russia had received a list of politicians, diplomats and military experts banned from entering the country.

"It is necessary to keep the channels open, it is in our interests to achieve the regulation of the conflict in Ukraine," Sawsan Chebli said.

Moscow Hushed EU Blacklist as Confidential, Brussels Leaked It to Press
According to the spokeswoman, Germany is in touch with Russia about the issue but is waiting for Moscow to inform the blacklisted officials of the reasons for their being barred from entering Russia.

The European Union, the United States and some other Western countries imposed several rounds of economic sanctions on Russia over allegations that Moscow meddled in Ukraine's internal affairs, which Russia has denied. A number of Russian individuals have been targeted with entry bans.

Moscow composed its own black list of US and EU nationals but did not make it publicly available.
