"CNNC, as a state corporation, mainly communicates with ROSATOM in Russia. At the moment, we are discussing further comprehensive cooperation not only in Russia or China, but also in other countries, and not only in the nuclear energy sphere, but also in using uranium resources and commonly exploiting nuclear technologies," Zhu Jicai, deputy director of China National Nuclear Corporation, told Sputnik.
Zhu Jicai emphasized that Russia is a crucial partner for China in the peaceful use of atomic energy. The two countries already have common projects, such as the Tainwan Nuclear Power Plant, and are working on expanding this cooperation, he said.
The leaders of Russia and China have also devoted their attention to promoting nuclear cooperation between the two countries. It was one of the issues covered during the meeting between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin in May, the CNNC representative said.
On Monday, ROSATOM Deputy Director General Kirill Komarov also said that Russia and its BRICS partners could find ways to cooperate in third countries.
ATOMEXPO brings together world leaders in the nuclear powers sector. This year, the forum held in Moscow on June 1-3, has welcomed a record number of attendants.
A special session at the ATOMEXPO 2015 forum is devoted to discussing Russia’s nuclear partnership with BRICS states.
