WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Army has award General Dynamics a contract to develop multiple design concepts for a new mechanized infantry vehicle, the US defense contractor said in a statement.
“General Dynamics will develop design concepts for the next generation Infantry Fighting Vehicle,” the statement said on Tuesday.
The contractor explained it will conduct “trade studies, requirements analysis, modelling and simulation and assess technology capability and maturity to support each of the three design concepts.”
The $28.2 million dollar contract is expected to be completed by November 2016.
The US Army currently relies on the M2/M3 Bradly and Stryker infantry vehicles.
