KIEV (Sputnik) — Canadian military instructors will arrive in Ukraine in mid-August and begin training local forces in September, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Wednesday.
“The head of government noted that instructors from the department of defense of Canada will arrive in mid-August, and training will begin in September,” a statement published on the Ukrainian government’s website reads.
The minister pointed out that the United Kingdom has also joined the US-led Fearless Guardian mission to train and equip Ukrainian troops.
“We expect that other EU countries will join this important mission as well, because this mission concerns European security,” Yatsenyuk was quoted as saying in the statement.
