Ultra Athlete George Hood Sets Guinness World Record for Plank

Ultra athlete, former Marine, and fitness instructor George Hood set his sixth Guinness world record by holding the plank (the prone hold) for five hours 15 minutes and 15 seconds.

Fifty-four-year-old George Hood's goal was to raise funds for the rehabilitation of injured Marines. To alleviate the excruciating pain, Hood's crew put ice on his joints.

He spent nine months training four to six hours a day to condition his body for the record-breaking attempt.

George Hood is known for setting a GWR of riding for 222 hours, 22 minutes and 22 seconds on a stationary bike (Static "Spin" Cycling Marathon) in November 2010.
In October 1986, Hood set a Guinness World Record for the "Rope Skipping Marathon" with 13 hours, 12 minutes and 11 seconds as his result.
