NEW YORK (Sputnik) — The sentencing date for Russian citizen Alexey Svetlichnyy has been postponed, Deputy Clerk Karen Folan told Sputnik on Wednesday.
“The sentencing in this case got continued until June 18,” Folan said.
On March 9, 2015, Svetlichnyy pled guilty for participating in a scheme to acquire more than $400,000 in consumer goods by using stolen credit and debit card information, according the US Department of Justice.
Known by the online nickname “Joga,” Svetlichnyy stole the information in illicit online forums.
Svetlichnyy and accomplices used the stolen information for online purchases of iPads, cell phones, computers as well as stored value cards issued by major credit card companies and retailers.
The scheme included wiring a portion of the illicitly-obtained funds overseas, including to Russian bank accounts.
Svetlichnyy faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
