WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — A subsidiary of US defense contractor Northrop Grumman has developed a new version of a robot to respond to bomb threats, Northrop Grumman said in a statement on Thursday.
“Northrop Grumman Corporation's subsidiary Remotec Inc. has unveiled the Andros FX™,” Northrop Grumman said.
The defense contractor explained the robot is a “more capable and dexterous unmanned ground vehicle” designed to defeat a wide range of threats including vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices.
The Andros FX builds on previous versions of the Andros with a new arm design, greater mobility and technology.
The technology is used by US and foreign militaries as well as police department bomb squads.
