The German armed forces lack necessary weaponry due to the procrastination of manufacturers and delays in deliveries, the German newspaper Die Welt reported.
The German Parliament is now calling on the Ministry of Defense to speed up the completion of weaponry systems and, in particular, to provide the necessary equipment for the normal functioning of Puma infantry fighting vehicles, Tiger multi-role attack helicopters and Eurofighter fighter jets.
However, the newspaper doubts whether the problem will be solved in the nearest future.
“One may have legitimate doubts whether the situation will change after 2018 when one has a look at other weapons systems of the Bundeswehr,” the article said.
Advanced military devices lacking insufficient armament is quite common among the German armed forces, the newspaper wrote.
