Passengers of Istanbul-New York Flight Evacuated in Turkey Over Bomb Threat
15:38 GMT 06.06.2015 (Updated: 15:50 GMT 06.06.2015) The passengers of the Turkish Airlines’ Boeing-777 aircraft that was due to depart from Istanbul to New York were evacuated ahead of the flight after a note, informing of a bomb on board, was found, local news portal reported Saturday.
ANKARA (Sputnik) — The pre-flight inspection carried out after the passengers were inside the aircraft revealed the note in the toilet, the Son Dakika portal said.
After the consultation with the airport security service, the pilot in command decided to evacuate all the 283 passengers. The aircraft was delivered to the parking lot. The plane's inspection is currently underway, according to the media outlet.
It is already the fifth similar incident with the airplanes of the Turkish Airlines in the past two months. In all previous cases, the investigation showed that the warnings were false.
The most recent episode took place on March 30, when a Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300 en route from Istanbul to Sao Paulo was forced to make an emergency landing in Casablanca on Monday due to a bomb scare.
