"We have agreed with Gazprom about a discount on the price of gas. Now, we are open to signing an agreement," a Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources spokesman told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.
The spokesman refused to specify the agreed price, citing trade secrets.
He pointed out that no exact date has been set so far for the signing, indicating that it may happen in late June.
In February, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz announced that Gazprom had agreed to grant Turkey a 10.25-percent discount on the price it pays for gas, something Gazprom did not confirm.
On December 1, 2014, Gazprom and Botas signed a memorandum of understanding on the construction of a Black Sea gas pipeline to Turkey with an annual capacity of 63 billion cubic meters. The 680-mile pipeline will carry up to 47 billion cubic meters of gas to the Turkish-Greek border.
The total amount of gas bought by Turkey from Gazprom in 2014 stands at 27.3 billion cubic meters.
