KIEV (Sputnik) – A court in Kiev has upheld the arrest of Russian citizen Alexander Alexandrov, a source familiar with the situation said Wednesday.
“Last week, the court upheld the arrest of Alexandrov,” the source told RIA Novosti.
The Ukrainian court previously authorized the arrest of Aleksander Aleksandrov and Yevgeny Yerofeyev until July 19.
Both men are confirmed Russian citizens who were wounded and taken prisoner in mid-May by Ukrainian forces fighting against militias in Ukraine’s southeastern Luhansk region. The government in Kiev accuses them of siding with self-defense forces. It claims that both men are active-duty servicemen.
Moscow responded that the men were not on active duty at the time of their arrest.
