China Aviation Regulator Strengthens MERS Control on Flights From S Korea

The Civil Aviation Administration of China urged all airlines on Friday to strengthen control and preventive measures on flights between China and South Korea over the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) virus spread concerns.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — All airlines are required to conduct more intensive disinfection of plane cabins, train crews and prepare everything necessary for an efficient response to a possible case of suspected contamination, the aviation regulator said in a statement, as cited by Xinhua News Agency.

On May 29, the first case of MERS was registered in China. A 44-year-old man tested positive for the virus in southeastern China after vising MERS-infected relatives in South Korea.

On Friday, MERS death toll in South Korea reached 11 people, while a total of 126 people cases have been reported so far.
