MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Moscow urges Kiev authorities to thoroughly investigate Thursday's attack on the Russian consulate in Ukraine's second-largest city of Kharkiv, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Friday.
“The Russian side demands Ukraine to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, to find and punish the ones who carried out and the ones who ordered this disgraceful provocation and to compensate the inflicted damage.”
Moscow insists on Kiev taking immediate measures to ensure the security of Russian missions in Ukraine, guaranteeing the international law governing consulate relations be upheld, the foreign ministry added.
The Kharkiv incident took place while the Russian consulate was holding celebrations to mark Russia Day, the national holiday of the Russian Federation, which falls on June 12.
