Egypt has opened the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip for the first time in months.
The border will remain open for three days, permitting Palestinians to travel in both directions. The head of the Gaza crossing has said that 15,000 people have applied to exit.
Rafah is Gaza's only entrance to the outside world that isn't controlled by Israel. Egypt has kept it mostly closed since the militant group Hamas seized control in 2007.
