СAIRO (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, three gunmen attempted to fight their way past the checkpoint at the entrance to the ancient shrine after security officers attempted to screen them.
One of them set off an explosive belt. Police reportedly killed two suspected militants, injured one and arrested two more with links to the perpetrators.
"The patient was in coma. He has five gunshot wounds, including several in the head. He sustained brain injury. There have been no changes in his state so far," head of Luxor International Hospital Ahmed Abdel-Nabi was quoted as saying by local television.
He also said that there is no data on the identity of the militant, who survived in the assault, according to the TV channel.
