TBILISI (Sputnik) — The mayor also said that some of the wild animals that escaped from the city zoo following the flooding are still on the loose.
"That’s why, I urge the residents of Tbilisi to refrain from moving around the city," Narmania warned.
According to Tbilisi’s electricity distribution company's statement, the flood led to power supply being cut off to around 22,000 of its customers in the capital.
Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry is ready to deploy more than 100 rescuers to help Georgia provide relief following the deadly flooding, the ministry’s press service said Sunday.
"Head of Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry Vladimir Puchkov has sent an official letter to Georgia’s interior minister to extend his condolences over the deaths following the disaster and offer help in flood relief [efforts]."
The statement added that Russia was ready to dispatch over 100 rescuers and two transport aircraft carrying equipment needed to conduct search and rescue operations and provide relief.
