"The EU is suffocating our economies and most Britons feel ashamed that the EU makes 85% of our laws. This is a betrayal of millions of our ancestors that died to maintain British independence. Thankfully, millions of Britons are waking up to the danger of the EU, as seen by the enormous vote gained by UKIP in the recent election," Paul Golding said.
The UK Independence Party (UKIP), known to express eurosceptic views, received around 3.8 million votes in the general elections in May 2015.
Golding’s words come amid the rising popularity of eurosceptic parties across Europe. Some 53 percent of UK citizens attribute a surge in far-right popularity to disenchantment in the European Union, according to a recent poll conducted by ICM Research for Sputnik.
The party leader claimed that UK politicians have failed to address immigration properly, either ignoring the problem or making unrealistic promises on one of the most pressing political issues in Britain.
"Immigration is transforming our country against our wishes. The politicians simply ignore the issue or make false claims that are always broken. The British people are fed up of immigration and they are starting to give their support to patriotic movements," he added.
According to the ICM poll, over 65 percent of those Britons answering the survey believe that the rise of right-wing parties in the UK is connected to problems of immigration. Most of those Europeans polled cite three reasons for the popularity of parties like UKIP (UK), Podemos (Spain) and the Front National (France): high immigration levels, unfulfilled promises and disenchantment in the EU.
