MOSCOW (Sputnik) — More than half of Greeks answering a new survey suggest that the fault of the continuing failure of bailout negotiations between Greece and its creditors lies with the international bankers, a poll revealed Tuesday.
According to the MacroPolis poll for the Greek Mega television channel, about 37 percent suggest that it is fault of the Greek government.
Over half of those polled stated that they agreed with the Greek government negotiation strategy, while almost 70 percent believe that Athens will need to compromise with its creditors.
Greece was particularly hard-hit by the 2008 economic crisis. The country entered into a multibillion-dollar debt by accepting large loans from the European Union, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Athens is currently in talks with the trio of international creditors to reach a new bailout deal before the current program expires on June 30. At the latest round of talks in Brussels, held on Sunday, Greece and the international creditors failed to reach an agreement.
