MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Attempts to force reforms in the UN Security Council will only damage the organization’s effectiveness, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told RIA Novosti in an interview.
“Unfortunately today, we must point out that pressing from a group of countries trying to reach a rapid decision in their favor on the issue of joining the Security Council by antagonizing a large proportion of the organization’s members, the Security Council will suffer if we refuse a stable and patient search for more consensual and acceptable decisions on the issue of its reformation,” Ryabkov said.
