MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Lebanon is interested in buying weapons from Russia instead of Western countries, Lebanese Ambassador to Russia Shawki Bou Nassar said Wednesday.
“We are currently discussing the completion of contracts. They symbolize good progress in cooperation between our countries in this area, because Lebanon is receiving weapons from Western countries like France and the United States, but deliveries from Russia are a new trend,” Nassar told RIA Novosti in an interview.
He also noted the quality of Russia’s weapons.
“Russian arms are effective and we need them very badly in order to react to threats,” Nassar added.
