MOSCOW (Sputnik), Alexander Mosesov — Disappointment in both the Conservative and Labour parties, comprising the UK two-party political system, led to increased popularity for the UK Independence Party (UKIP), administrator-general of the Eurasian Observatory for Democracy & Elections (EODE) Luc Michel told Sputnik Wednesday.
"The center of the political attraction of the people for UKIP is the complete failure of the British classical political parties," Michel said.
He added that UKIP takes inspiration for its opposition to traditional political parties in the success of recent independent movements in Scotland and Wales.
The pro-independence Scottish National Party won 56 out of the 59 Scottish seats available at Westminster in the May 7 general election.
UKIP, became popular on an uncompromising anti-EU and anti-immigration platform, receiving 12.6 percent, or almost four million, votes in the May election.
