NEW YORK (Sputnik) — The whereabouts of the two convicted murderers who escaped from the maximum-security prison in Dannemora, New York, are unknown, New York State Police Captain Robert LaFountain stated during a press conference on Wednesday.
“They can be anywhere,” LaFountain said.
On June 6, 2016, New York State Police launched a manhunt for Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34, after authorities at the Clinton Correctional Facility discovered the two inmates were missing after they created an elaborate system of tunnels.
New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has offered a $100,000 reward for any information pertaining to the whereabouts of the two escapees.
