GAZA (Sputnik) – The fate of the Palestinian unity government will be determined at a Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee meeting next Monday, local media reported Wednesday.
Abbas’ spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, denied the reports, saying Hamdallah continues to oversee the PLO Executive Committee’s work and will attend next Monday’s meeting in Ramallah, according to Palestine’s WAFA news agency.
The Palestinian unity government was established in June 2014, seeking to bring together Hamas with Abbas’ Fatah, the ruling faction in the West Bank. The two groups have been embroiled in a decade-long political standoff after a power sharing dispute.
