The Paraguayan capital Asuncion has been hit by floods caused by the rising waters in the Paraguay River; at least 48,000 people have been displaced by the disaster, according to the country's Ministry of National Emergencies.
The water level of the Paraguay River is currently at a height of 5.54 meters, officials said.
In 2014, floods caused by torrential rains led to the evacuation of 200,000 people living near the Paraguay River.
