KIEV (Sputnik) — Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, dismissed Valentin Nalivaychenko from the position of the head of the country's security service Thursday on suggestion of President Petro Poroshenko.
As many as 248 parliamentarians supported the decision to sack Nalivaychenko.
Nalivaychenko became the head of the Ukrainian Security Service last February. He also headed the service in 2006-2010.
Nalivaychenko was questioned by the country's prosecutors after he accused Deputy Attorney General Anatoly Danylenko of covering an oil depot fire near Kiev. The Ukrainian media branded the situation a confrontation between the country's general prosecutor's office and the security services.
