"Cancer control, capacity building, these are very strong points of your country," Amano said.

According to the IAEA, capacity building is a systematic and integrated approach aiming at improving the governmental, organizational and individual capabilities necessary for achieving a safe, secure and sustainable nuclear power program.

The St. Petersburg forum, running June 18-20, is held under the auspices of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The forum has taken place annually since 1997 and positions itself as a unique growth and stability network for emerging economic powers.
