MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US billionaire and 2016 presidential candidate Donald Trump did not hire actors to cheer for him during his recent presidential bid announcement, a spokesperson said.
On Tuesday, Trump officially announced he joined the 2016 US Presidential race for the Republican Party. The following day, the Hollywood Reporter cited a letter to a casting agency and claimed that the real estate mogul had paid background actors $50 to pose as fans during his announcement.
"Mr. Trump draws record crowds at almost every venue at which he is a featured speaker," the newspaper quoted Lewandowski as saying on Wednesday. He added that in general, the crowd has always appeared supportive of Trump.
Trump joined the list of eleven Republicans showing interest in the run, including Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush. Former US State Secretary Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are the most prominent Democrats to announce a 2016 candidacy.
