LE BOURGET (Sputnik) — Russia's export military equipment can be furnished with western-made components upon request of the client, the head of the delegation of the country's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport said Thursday at the International Paris Air Show in Le Bourget airport.
“If the client insists, then, of course, it is possible. There of course will be direct contacts [between foreign clients and the suppliers of components]… meaning that the client will be able to purchase the components directly [from the supplier] and have them integrated in the Russian equipment on his territory,” Sergei Kornev said.
Russian-designed multipurpose fighter jets Su-30MKI, earlier supplied to India, use Israel- and French-made components.
As Moscow’s relations with the West deteriorated amid escalation of the Ukrainian crisis in 2014, Russia launched an import substitution program to replace foreign defense industry components.
