WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Dylan Roof, 21, who shot dead nine African Americans in a church in Charleston, South Carolina, made his first court appearance in North Carolina on Thursday afternoon, local media reported.
Roof waived extradition to South Carolina as he was arrested in Shelby, North Carolina some 200 miles away from the crime scene.
On Wednesday evening, Roof opened fire at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, killing nine church attendees, including the church pastor and a state senator.
