CNN was forced to cut to a commercial after correspondent Don Lemon was berated on live TV by a community member outraged by the network's labeling of the massacre as a hate crime instead of a terrorist attack.
Lemon has frequently borne the brunt of heavy backlash from the black community for his insensitive remarks, including the suggestion that blacks could solve deeply rooted social problems by "doing things like pulling up their pants," or his reporting from Ferguson that "obviously, there is the smell of marijuana in the air."
