WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-based charity Happy Hearts Fund warned it would sue its former Executive Director Sue Veres Royal for revealing to the media that former President Bill Clinton participated in the charity’s 2014 gala only after the Clinton Foundation received a $500,000 donation, according to media reports.
Veres Royal has been in a legal battle with the charity since making the disclosure to The New York Times on May 29, 2015, Fox News learned on Friday.
On June 4, 2015, Veres Royal filed a formal complaint over the charity’s actions with the New York Attorney General's Charities Bureau, the media reports said.
The charity allegations followed a New York Times report two months earlier that US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton accepted millions of dollars in donations from foreign governments for the Clinton Foundation.
The news outlet also revealed that she used personal e-mail address while she served as the US top diplomat.
