MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Europe is currently struggling with a spike in undocumented migration, as thousands of migrants are fleeing conflicts in North Africa and the Middle East in search of better life conditions.
“First they bombed Libya, and now they are asking rhetorical questions in the European Union: what are we supposed to do with the refugees? Well you created that problem yourselves… You turned Libya into a second Somalia, and now you are surprised why a stream of refugees is coming from there,” Ivanov said.
He noted that Syria faced a similar situation. Four years of civil war in Syria have led to a refugee population of over 11 million, the world's largest, according to the UN.
“One should probably think first before doing something, and not wave with a baton, supposedly to spread democracy. That is very dangerous,” the official warned.
