Relations between the two countries remain cold, the Russian Ambassador said.
"Unfortunately, they didn't improve. I'm disappointed: much more could be done. But it's not the fault of the Russian side. We did everything to establish a dialogue and contacts. However, we're facing a rather cold attitude and all contacts at the Ministerial level are frozen. A lack of dialogue between neighbors is unnatural," Tatarintsev said.
Tatarintsev doesn't understand why russophobia in Sweden is currently on the rise and why Sweden is scared of "Russian aggression."
"You can all conclude who is stronger. Unfortunately, the Swedes have currently anti-Russian phobias and have the antipathy to Russia more than ever before in the past. This is due to the aggressive propaganda campaign waged by Swedish media," the Russian diplomat said.
Russia is worried about the increased presence of NATO troops in the Baltic region, Tatarintsev said. There are almost 3,000 NATO commandos, ready to take part in a military conflict.
"This is a real symptom of the desire to create a platform for starting a conflict that could escalate into something more. This is a dangerous trend," the diplomat said.
