MOSCOW (Sputnik) – As a result of French ferry employees going on strike and demonstrators litting a fire outside the tunnel, Eurostar rail services between France and the United Kingdom were canceled on Tuesday, the company said in a statement.
“We are currently unable to run any trains through the tunnel due to a fire outside caused by @MyFerryLink demonstrators,” Eurostar posted on its Twitter account.
Earlier in the day, Eurotunnel reported closure of the tunnel due to the disturbances, as the workers blocked both the port and the rail link. MyFerryLink company employees are protesting against plans for a company restructure which would lead to layoffs.
