Israel had earlier permitted a group of about 500 Palestinians, residing in the Gaza Strip, to travel to Jerusalem for Friday Prayer. On Tuesday, rocket fire emanating from the Gaza Strip was reported.
"Seeing the night rocket attacks on Israel from the district [city] of Beit Hanoun located next to the border crossing Erez [on the Israel-Gaza Strip barrier], leaving to Jerusalem for Ramadan this weekend is canceled," the statement by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Unit said.
Last week, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon stated that a permit for another group of 500 Palestinians to go abroad during Ramadan had been revoked. The decision came after two attacks over the weekend killed one Israeli and injured two more.
