PARIS (Sputnik) – French President Francois Hollande and US President Barack Obama discussed in a phone call on Wednesday media reports about alleged NSA spying on top french officials, the president's office said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, WikiLeaks began publishing a collection of 'top secret' intelligence reports from the US National Security Agency (NSA) which involved intercepts of the communications targeting high-level officials from successive French governments over the past decade.
"The talks prompted the discussion of principles that determine the rules of intelligence gathering between allies," Hollande's office said in a statement.
"President Obama clearly reiterated the commitment to his pledge…to stop practices that existed in the past and are deemed unacceptable by allies," the statement said.
