MOSCOW (Sputnik) — PST found no eavesdropping equipment near Parliament or government buildings in central Oslo, contrary to last year’s media reports, according to a statement released Wednesday on the PST website.
In December 2014, the largest Norwegian newspaper, Aftenposten, reported that fake mobile towers, containing illegal spying devices, allegedly monitoring phone calls and movements of people, were found in the capital’s central area.
The official investigation, carried out together with Norway’s domestic intelligence agency, concluded the daily newspaper’s "original reports were based on inadequate misinterpretations of its own observation and the lack of expertise in the field in general."
The newspaper has voiced its concern over PST’s findings stating that police came to the wrong conclusion.
