WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In Syria, airstrikes destroyed an Islamic State tactical unit and a vehicle near Al Hasakah; a tank near Aleppo, as well as a tactical unit, two fighting positions and a vehicle near Tal Abyad, the Joint Task Force said.
“In Syria, Coalition military forces conducted three airstrikes using fighter and remotely piloted aircraft,” the Joint Task Force stated. “Separately in Iraq, Coalition military forces conducted 13 airstrikes.”
Airstrikes in Iraq eliminated an Islamic State road near Baghdadi as well as tactical units, fighting positions, staging areas, infrastructure and vehicles near Bayji, Fallujah, Mosul, Ramadi and Tal Afar, the Joint Task Force added.
The airstrikes were a part of Operation Inherent Resolve, whose goal is to eliminate Islamic State, according to Joint Task Force.
On Tuesday, the United Nations announced at least three million people in Iraq have been displaced by Islamic State fighting and violence.
