The Austrian Finance Minister is confident that Greece’s withdrawal from the Eurozone is an unlikely option.
“There will be no Grexit. Greece remains a member of the Eurogroup. Greece has not withdrawn and we, so to say, have not ‘removed’ it from the Eurogroup,” Schelling said, adding that what Greece has just to do is to take the “appropriate measures”.
On Saturday, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced that the latest proposals of the Eurogroups’ finance ministers would be put to the national vote. The step was criticized by many European politicians and led the negotiations to a deadlock.
“Greece has now once left the negotiating table. We'll see what proposals the Greek government will introduce," Schelling stated, cited by news.at.
The bailout program for Greece will expire on June, 30. Until then Greece is expected to repay a $1.7-billion debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
