MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Friday's attack at the El Kantaoui resort neighborhood north of Sousse was the highest fatality event of the kind in the history of Tunisia.
Rezgui, a local student, killed some 40 people, including UK and German citizens, at the Imperial hotel, majority of them Britons. Some forty others were injured. The shooter was killed by police.
The Islamic State jihadist group, which is predominantly active in Iraq and Syria, claimed responsibility for the attack.
"The results of a DNA analysis of unidentified victims of the June 26 attack on the Sousse resort, determined that the victim was Russian citizen T.V. Khomenko, born in 1961, who stayed at the Riu Imperial Marhaba hotel," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, Khomenko's daughter was injured in the attack and had been operated in a Tunisian hospital. Her condition is currently assessed as satisfactory.
