Morano understands the importance of establishing a dialogue on respectful terms with Russia, as the current EU policy towards Moscow hasn't had positive results.
"The member of EU Parliament is shocked by unmitigated hostility that the majority of the members of the EU Parliament have towards Moscow," the French newspaper said.
The working group created by Morano may soon visit the Russian Parliament in an attempt to find common ground, JDD said.
When it comes to French relations with Russia, Morano shares the positions of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and former Prime Minister Francois Fillon, both of whom had warmer relations with Moscow. Morano already said that the failure to deliver the Mistral-class helicopter carriers to Russia was a huge mistake on behalf of France, JDD reported.
Earlier this month, the EU Parliament passed a tough anti-Russian resolution that urges the EU to change its policies towards Russia to an even harsher stance.
