WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Department of State has published about 3,000 pages of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s e-mails related to the 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya, according to the State Department’s website.
Earlier on Tuesday, State Department spokesperson John Kirby announced the release of the additional 3,000 pages from Clinton’s e-mail account would be made available at 9:00 p.m. on the same day.
The timing of the State Department's plan to release about 3,000 pages of Clinton's e-mails is not an effort to minimize media coverage but the result of the complexity of preparing records for public release to meet a court-imposed deadline, a State Department official said.
After a request from the State Department in October 2014, Clinton returned in December about 30,000 printed e-mails from her personal e-mail account.
