MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A total of 135 bodies have been recovered so far from the wreckage of the Hercules C-130 military transport aircraft in Indonesia, local media reported on Wednesday.
The four-engine aircraft fell in the southwestern part of Medan, the capital of the Indonesian province of North Sumatra, about two minutes after it took-off from the Soewondo air base, crashing into the recently build residential area.
According to a local news website Detik.com, the bodies of victims were transported to the Adam Malik Hospital, where they will be identified and handed over to the family.
Indonesian Air Force Commander Agus Supriyatna said Tuesday that all 113 people aboard the plane died in the crash, including 101 passengers and 12 crew members.
The exact number of people killed on the ground remains unclear.
