In bond court, Judge Mindy Glazer recognized Arthur Booth from Nautilius Middle School.
Booth is facing multiple charges including burglary, grand theft, fleeing, and resisting arrest.
Booth began to cry after Glazer asked him if he had attended the middle school.
"Oh my goodness, oh my goodness," Booth said, as he covered his head.
Booth was arrested on Monday after Hialeah Police noticed he was driving a gold Honda Accord suspected of being involved in a burglary. When police stopped him, he sped away initiating the pursuit. Booth ran two red lights and got into two accidents before crashing his vehicle near Northwest 36st and North River Drive, police said.
He fled on foot, but was later caught by police.
"I'm sorry to see you there, I always wondered what happened to you sir," Glazer said to Booth. "This was the nicest kid in middle school; he was the best kid in middle school. I used to play football with him, all the kids, and look what has happened."
Glazer added that she hoped to see him change his ways.
"What's sad is how old we've become," Glazer said. "Good luck to you sir, I hope you are able to come out of this ok and just lead a lawful life."
Booth's bond was set at $ 43,000.
