MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Two people died in a light aircraft accident on Saturday in Portland city, US state of Texas, local TV channel reported.
According to KIII TV, the crash took place on Saturday afternoon at the North Shore Country Club in Portland.
A young man and a woman were the victims of the accident, the outlet said.
The two were reportedly flying from the local airport when the tragedy occurred, KIII TV added.
According to the TV channel that cited witnesses, the plane crashed near residential buildings, however, there were no reports on the damage inflicted to them.
The aircraft was the 1947 Aeronca Model 7 Champion L-16, more commonly known as the Champ.
The US Federal Aviation Administration is expected to arrive in Portland to investigate the crash.
